Live mocktail bar counter set up at a Chennai event

Live counter catering

Live Counter Catering in Chennai

Mocktail bars, chaat, dosa, cut fruit, dessert, ice cream and live filter coffee — bookable as standalone stations or added to any buffet.

How we work

A counter is a piece of theatre with a queue attached.

Live counters work when they are placed correctly and staffed properly. Two dominate every event we cater — the chaat counter and the ice cream counter — and both draw a queue that will block a buffet line if you put them next to it. We site the busy counters away from the food line and the slower ones (cut fruit, tea) near the seating.

Each station comes with its own dressed counter, equipment, lighting, ingredients and dedicated staff. A chaat counter with one server is a bottleneck; for 300-plus guests we staff two, with a third replenishing behind.

Standard counter service runs two hours. For weddings we usually open the mocktail and chaat counters during arrival, the dessert and ice cream counters as the meal winds down, and the tea and filter coffee counter last.

Case study

Moving the chaat counter fixed the buffet queue

Reception · 900 guests · Chennai

At a 900-guest reception the venue's preferred layout put the chaat counter at the head of the buffet line. Within twenty minutes the chaat queue had folded back into the buffet queue and neither was moving.

We moved the chaat and mocktail counters to the far side of the lawn near the arrival path, kept cut fruit and tea beside the seating, and left only the dessert counter adjacent to the food line.

Outcome — The buffet cleared steadily for the rest of the evening, and the counters kept arriving guests occupied instead of stacking them at the entrance.

Frequently asked

Live counter catering — your questions

Can I book only one live counter without a full buffet?

Yes. Any station can be booked standalone from 75 guests — a single chaat or ice cream counter is a common add-on to a home party.

How long does a live counter run?

Two hours is standard. Extensions are charged per hour per station.

How much space and power does each counter need?

About 6 by 4 feet and one 15A power point per station. Ice cream and mocktail counters need the power point; chaat and dosa counters need ventilation.

Do you provide the counter and the decor?

Yes. Each station comes with a dressed counter, cloth, lighting, equipment and signage, plus dedicated staff.

Which counters do you recommend for a wedding reception?

Mocktail and chaat during arrival, dessert and ice cream as the meal ends, and live tea and filter coffee to close.
