Ceremonial procession under decorated umbrellas at a Christian wedding in South India

Christian wedding catering

Christian Wedding Catering in Chennai

Church-hall receptions, Nasrani and Anglo-Indian menus, sit-down lunches and evening buffets — planned around the service timing, not against it.

How we work

The reception starts the minute the church empties.

A Christian wedding in Chennai has a hard schedule the caterer does not control. The nuptial mass ends when it ends, the photographs run long, and 600 guests walk into the hall within twenty minutes of each other. Everything has to be ready before the first car leaves the church gate.

We plan Christian weddings around three service beats — a welcome drink and snack while the couple are still photographing, the main meal once the family is seated, and the cake and wine table timed to the toast.

Menus follow the family's tradition rather than a generic buffet. Tamil Protestant families in Chennai often want a full biryani lunch; Kerala Nasrani families ask for appam and stew, meen curry and duck roast; Anglo-Indian families want cutlets, ball curry, yellow rice and pepper water on the same table.

Case study

A church-hall reception with two kitchens' worth of tradition

CSI church hall, Chennai · 800 guests · 2023

The bride's family was Tamil Protestant and wanted a biryani lunch; the groom's family was Kerala Syrian Christian and wanted appam and stew. Neither side wanted to be the one that gave in.

We ran two adjoining service lines rather than one blended menu — a biryani line with dalcha and raita, and a Kerala line with appam, stew, meen curry and duck roast — with a shared dessert and coffee counter at the centre so guests mixed rather than split.

Outcome — Both families ate their own food at their own children's wedding, and the leftover count came in under five percent because guests self-selected by line.

We cater in CSI, RC and Pentecostal church halls, community halls, hotel banquet rooms and home receptions. Where the hall has no kitchen we set up a temporary cooking bay in the parking area with our own fuel, vessels and water storage.

Frequently asked

Christian wedding catering — your questions

Do you cater Kerala Syrian Christian wedding menus in Chennai?

Yes. Appam, idiyappam, chicken stew, meen mulakittathu, duck roast, beef fry and palada payasam are all cooked fresh on site by cooks who have worked those menus for years.

Can you serve both veg and non-veg guests separately?

Yes. Vegetarian food is cooked in dedicated vessels with separate serving spoons and its own counter, kept physically apart from the non-veg line.

Do you handle the cake table and wine service?

Yes. We dress the cake table, provide staff for the cutting, and pour grape juice or wine to seated guests during the toast.

What is the minimum guest count for a Christian wedding reception?

100 guests. Below that we recommend a house-reception format, which we also cater.

How do you handle the gap between the church service and the reception?

We serve a welcome drink and snack round while the couple are photographing, so guests arriving early are never left waiting with nothing.
